How can Therapy help support students at this age?
At this age, children are beginning to express themselves in an entirely new way, through the use of written language. Children are becoming increasingly more independent from adults while at the same time becoming more interdependent on each other as the demands to socially interact and engage with peers often cause increased pressure for students. As SLPs our job is to assist students in their continued ability to communicate, socially interact and understand others. We aim to help students better communicate with peers, teachers and other adults as well as support students written language and literacy skills.
